Sermon theme: Unveiling the Marks of Evangelism

 

Introduction

Over the past two weeks now, we have been looking at evangelism as the lifeblood of the church.

Jesus continues to address the topic of evangelism, but with emphasis on the what to expect as we go. Here he talks about the marks of bearing our crosses.

The mark of resentment

The world hates Jesus for four reasons:

1. He is holy.
2. He is the only one who can intrude into your secret places of darkness.
3. He is the only one who makes the sinner miserable in his/her sin.
4. He is the only one who judges sin.

So the only way man can act and think freely would be to disassociate from the name Jesus.

The mark of persecution

We avoid the name Jesus because we don’t want to be discriminated against.

The mark of servanthood

Jesus says that a true servant walks in the footsteps of his master and learns from him. In other words, we are not above him.

From this day forward let's start talking and doing evangelism in a more intentional way.
