Sermon text: Matthew 20:1

Sermon Theme: God’s Ultimate Objective

Introduction

One of the fascinating things about Christianity is the reality that God seeks to establish us in His kingdom. That’s the ultimate objective of God’s mission on earth.

In the Bible, God is seen in various scenarios presenting the idea of a coming kingdom.

Man today is carried away by the discoveries that science has made, and he asks himself this question: What do we need God for?!

So what is the difference between our earthly kingdom and God’s heavenly kingdom?

Ours is temporal—God’s is eternal.

Our kingdom is hopeless

God’s kingdom is hopeful

God has established His kingdom here on earth through the church. Our work here is to keep faith in Christ alive.

Here are the things required of us to keep faith alive...

  • Abide in Christ (John 15—remain)
  • Die to self (Galatians 20:20—submit)
  • Feed our spirit (Matthew 4:4—eat)
  • Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17—carry it to God)
  • Share the faith (Matthew 18:19–20—testify)
